European study on mobility outside of the EU programmes

Publiée le Montag 18 April 2011
The European Commission has recently launched a study on mobility in Europe outside of the European action programmes. The study commenced in January and runs until July, and is carried out by the German consultancy company ICON in a consortium with the Danish National Centre for the Development of Vocational Education and Training (NCE). The study covers the same target groups as the mobility strands of the Lifelong Learning Programme (i.e. Leonardo da Vinci, Comenius and Grundtvig) and the Youth in Action Programme. The aim is to obtain figures for transnational mobility to complement the statistics for the European programmes; to identify trends, strategies and policies for mobility at national and regional level in Europe, and to analyse their co-existence with European policies. Higher education is not included in this undertaking, but is the focus of a separate study. Data collection for the study is carried out by a network of national experts, and the findings are later analysed by a core team of mobility experts. The study only covers mobility schemes (programmes and initiatives) at national and regional level, and does not involve individual mobility or mobility undertaken at local level. Therefore the outcome will not be a 100% accurate picture of mobility, but it will be the most extensive baseline study carried out so far."
