TOI Perfect Match

Published Monday 15 October 2012

WHAT?

A Leonardo da Vinci transfer of Innovation project accepted in 2012, coordinated by Ikaalinen College of Crafts and Design from Finland, other partners from France, Spain, Hungary and Italy, including umbrella organizations of SMEs from these countries as associated partners.

The aim of the project is to improve the quality and quantity of transnational mobility and hosting trainees from abroad in SMEs; the products are applicable to all fields.
Therefore the project combines 4 previous results from a partnership project to a TOI project. It includes SME's to the mobility process and developes the role of intermediatory organisations.

MAIN IDEAS?

  • If the right trainee is matched with the right SME, all parties will benefit from the placement maximally
  • Intermediary organizations operating in the target countries between the trainees and the SMEs are needed to organize these perfect match placements and to help the hosting SME
  • intermediary organisations (e.g vocational schools, chambers, professional intermediary organisations…) are the primary target group of the project, but SMEs, trainees and vocational education will benefit as well

WHY NEEDED?

  • with increasing mobility, more SMEs who are willing to host trainees from abroad are needed
  • more co-operation structures between intermediary organisations and SMEs are needed

OBJECTIVES?

  • to develop tools for the intermediary organisations, with which they are able to place the right trainee in the right SME
  • to encourage schools, chambers etc. to act as intermediary organisations
  • to encourage SMEs to host trainees from abroad by bringing out the benefits  of hosting
  • to raise awareness of the overall  benefits of mobility in Europe

OUTCOMES FOR SMEs?

  • information on the benefits of hosting trainees from abroad: to help decision making
  • information on how the hosting process goes, what it requires from the SME
  • co-operation structures with the local intermediary organisations;
    • to offer concrete help with the paperwork and organization
    • to help identify the “perfect match” trainee for your company
    • to provide advice on the potential points of development in terms of becoming a hosting company of good quality
    • access to international networks
