The Peer Learning Session aims at intensifying the exchanges between pairs and European experts to develop the mutual learning and expertise of participating organizations and institutions.
After a short plenary session, the participants are invited to join different work groups where they will discuss specific topics linked to mobility of apprentices.

Peer learning allows capitalizing on the success stories of participants, highlighting encountered difficulties and working together on solutions. It is also an opportunity to interact with pairs and start a new cooperation (European projects, events, etc.).

The November session will address the challenges and questionings linked to virtual mobility.

What does "virtualization" means for learning mobility projects and pathways?

Generally speaking, virtualisation has something to do with the introduction of Information technology to enable, support, facilitate, or even replace a "real" activity. The objectives of this Peer Learning on Virtual Mobility (part I) are to

  • imagine and describe what could "virtualisation" mean in the case of Apprentices' mobility
  • explicit the different possibilities of "virtualising" the mobility process regarding different actors and different type of mobility
  • reflect upon the possible benefits from the virtualisation of some elements of the Mobility Process regarding the different beneficiaries of the process
  • start reflecting upon the necessary tools, and their required functionalities, in order to support the virtualisation process.

A second peer learning on these subjects (part II) could follow in 2013 in order to go further into the sustainability and the quality insurance process of "virtual mobility".

Themes that will be reflected upon during the peer-learning:

From "Real mobility" to "Virtual mobility"

How to shift from a fully real mobility process to a more virtualised one? What can be virtualised"? How? Which are the expected impacts, advantages and drawbacks of the virtualisation process (or processes)?

Key success factors for "virtualising" the mobility of apprentices in Europe

How to enable, support, and ensure the quality of the virtual mobility process?
How to better develop the awareness, knowledge and competencies of the actors involved in the process (accompanying persons, organisers, schools, companies, Institutions, regional and local bodies, etc.)
How to better prepare the young people, and create more value from their mobility?
How to evaluate the benefits?

Possible functions for a collaborative platform to enable and sustain virtual mobility of apprentices, and other related tools

What should be the "toolbox" of actors involved in a virtual mobility process?
How could we start to set the foundations of a collaborative platform, for example?


Inscription is open until 19th October latest.
Participation is for members of the EuroApprenticeship Network and experts. Seminar working language: English
No incsription fees for EuroApprenticeship members.
Travel and accommodation are at the expense of participants. Meals during the peer learning session are provided.
