• DISCUSS STEREOTYPES AND REPRESENTATIONS TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER BETTER

  STEP 1 : BRAINSTORMING – Basculer

  • OBJECTIVES :

    – Expressing and writing on a virtual wall the representations, the information and the stereotypes that the students have concerning the partner country, its culture and its habitants

     

  • DESCRIPTION :

    In each class (ASYNCHRONOUS) :
    
    Choice 1 : Individual work

    Each student posts on the virtual wall :
    – The information he knows or he have heard/read about the country, and its culture
    – The image and representation he has about his inhabitants

    Many subjects can be covered : landscape, traditions, culinary specialties, stereotypes, health and safety management…
    
    Choice 2 : Work per group

    – They can also work per group on one chosen thematic and look for information on Internet.
    – Then, after validation by their teacher, they publish their information on the virtual canvase (via padlet or Lino).

  • ROLE OF THE TEACHER :

    Before the activity :
    – He prepares the virtual canvase (on padlet or Lino) and share the links with his European colleague.
    
    During the activity :
    – He animates the activity, introduces the objectives, presents the different steps and helps the students in the English translation.
    – He also validates the posts on the virtual canvase.
    
    After the activity :
    – He notifies his European colleague the availability of the virtual wall.

  STEP 2 : CONSULTATION OF THE VIRTUAL WALL AND PREPARATION OF THE ORAL PRESENTATION – Basculer

  • OBJECTIVES :
    
    – Nuancing some images/pictures of their country and culture that can be sent to the other European countries
    – Preparing a speech or an oral presentation in English concerning his/her country and his/her culture
    

     

  • DESCRIPTION :

    In each class (ASYNCHRONOUS) :
    
    

    1- The students discover the virtual wall with the information and representations posted by their European colleagues.

    2- Then, they identify the covered thematics.

    3- Each group of 2 or 3 students chooses one thematic and work on it :

    • They prepare a speech (with or without some illustrated slides) on the thematic in order to develop, justify, or nuance the information posted on the wall.

    4- At the end, each group presents his speech (with or without his slides) to the teacher who validates the contain.

  • OBJECTIVES :

    – Presenting in English their country and culture  
    

  • DESCRIPTION :

    In synchronous (by videoconference) or asynchronous (by video sent mutually) :
    Each class presents orally his country and culture from the posted information on the virtual wall.

    Debriefing between the two classes or in each class
